Dr James Ng Kin Wah is a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist with over 20 years of experience in Singapore and in the United Kingdom. He is well-versed in managing all aspects of Ophthalmology (Glaucoma, OculoPlastic surgery, Paediatric Ophthalmology, etc), and his subspecialty focus is in Complex Cataract Surgery and Dislocated Lenses, Laser Vision Correction (TransPRK, SMILE, and LASIK), ICL Implantation, Myopia Control in children, all Medical Retina and Surgical Retinal/ Macular diseases and surgery, and Uveitis (inflammation/ infection of the eye).
Dr Ng graduated MBBS from St Bartholomew’s and The London School of Medicine in the UK and a History of Medicine BSc(Hons) from The Wellcome Institute in London. After a solid foundation in Neurosurgery and Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery, he started his Ophthalmology training at the renowned Western Eye Hospital Rotation in London. He moved to Singapore in 2007 and became one of the few non-native doctors to graduate and practice as a specialist eye surgeon in private practice.
Subsequently he obtained subspecialty fellowship positions by competitive interview at tertiary eye institutions in the United Kingdom. Under the tutelage of world-renowned eye specialists, he spent just over 3 years at the Bristol Eye Hospital, the Oxford Eye Hospital, and finished his training as a senior surgeon at the famous Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.
Dr Ng has published research in peer reviewed journals and given presentations at international ophthalmology meetings, and is now focused on optimising patient outcomes and surgical results.
His spoken languages are English, Cantonese, and Mandarin with basic French and Spanish.
